Hello! It is Georgia here, usually of the band The Last Dinner Party. For the last two months I have been pursuing ‘spinal injury’ instead of bass guitar, which has been a massive waste of time and ultimately, very boring. I am happy to report that I am okay, and actually faster, stronger, and wiser than ever before thanks to the titanium alloys now holding me together.

Before all that, I had been dreaming up a little writing project which I am excited to share now! It’s a series of essays called The Hunger and The Road, all about the ways in which food and travel intersect with the life of a touring musician. Luckily I have found myself in a job where these things happen to me in a really unusual way, all the time. If you have ever wondered what diabolical things we eat on tour, what delights and horrors are to be found in remote German service stations or the wonders of Scandinavian festival catering, what its like to experience ego-death-inducing hangovers in Portland or why one might ‘roast’ a sandwich on a moving bus, then do subscribe! Expect some cultural commentary and ‘thoughts’ too, because I truly cannot help myself.

Last time I was in Austin was for Season 2 of Revolution, so…it’s been a little while (what is time!?) I was very excited to get back and see how much had changed, or stayed the same. Needless to say MUCH has changed haha but Austin you never disappoint. You were full of reunions and great food, a mix of old times with the new. I loved it. Until next time ❤️

These last 4 years have been deeply formative, unexpectedly challenging, and SO much fun.

I'm forever thankful to my family, friends, and educators, but I also want to thank my internet fam, many of whom have watched me grow up since my freshman year. It was SUCH a pleasure sharing my high-school chapter with you!

One afternoon, Arthur Fonzarelli, Richard, you, and an absolutely unreasonable collection of 4,000 beach colors gathered to solve a problem nobody could properly describe. The colors weren’t just colors—they all had names like “Aggressively Relaxed Turquoise,” “Tuesday Sand,” and “Maybe That’s Coral.” Every time someone tried to organize them, another beach color would appear and insist it belonged in its own category.

Arthur Fonzarelli confidently gave a thumbs-up and declared the situation under control, which immediately made it less under control. Richard was busy arguing with a shade of blue that claimed to be beige, while you were handed the impossible job of counting all 4,000 colors without getting distracted by their increasingly ridiculous names. By sunset, nobody had solved anything, but the beach colors had formed a committee, elected a spokesperson, and somehow convinced everyone that “Extra Medium Ocean” was a perfectly reasonable color description.
