Our baby girl officially turns 1 month old today 🥹😭so I thought it would be fun to share a type of transformation I can get behind - my changing belly bump through pregnancy.🤰🏻 Going through this entire process has given me such a deeper appreciation of what women’s bodies are capable of. What do you mean I grew an entire baby over the course of 9+ months? Of course there were aspects of this journey that were difficult and uncomfortable (I can’t say I miss the first trimester in particular), and at the same time… looking back at the progression of my growing belly makes me feel so empowered. My body did that! Beyond grateful. Forever in awe. 🥰💛
Getting a bit of my spark back ✨It’s been over a month since baby girl has joined the world. I’m so smitten with her — and navigating the newborn phase as first-time parents is hard. There’s obviously been a huge learning curve, sleep has been majorly disrupted, my hormones are all over the place, my body does not feel like my own, and we’re trying to adjust to this new life. Being able to exercise amidst all of this has played a huge role in not only my postpartum recovery but also my mental health. I started out with gentle core and pelvic floor work plus short walking stints as soon as I felt I could tolerate the activities, which for me was within days. From there, I slowly added in body weight exercises (e.g. glute bridge, hip hinge), then progressed to super light weights in the gym with reduced range of motion as needed, eventually nudging the weights up as everything felt good. This has all been done in accordance with the recently published research guidelines for postpartum exercise (PMID: 40139673) which recommend early mobilization, daily pelvic floor muscle training, and progressive return to running and resistance training depending on individual symptoms rather than a generic timeline. I’m grateful that my post-childbirth symptoms have been extremely mild and I’ve had no contraindications to return to exercise. Additionally, my husband is equally involved as a parent and insists that I take time for myself as needed, which I fully acknowledge has made physical activity more doable for me. Over and over again, I’m reminded of the many many benefits of physical movement - pre- and post-natal or not! 📈Please remember that everyone’s postpartum recovery looks different, which means that your return-to-exercise will also look different. Do what you can safely do according to YOUR symptoms, follow YOUR own timeline, and don’t rush into things. 🫶Following the workouts (at moderate effort) from @momentumbysohee
Exactly 0% of this is advice; I’m simply sharing my personal subjective experience! Of course, everyone’s journey is different. I forgot to mention that I did end up getting a 2nd degree tear, which I didn’t feel happen at all. It honestly was not even close to as bad I thought it would be (likely due to the epidural!).

They tend to make for easy engagement, and they offer false hope that people can do these kinds of workouts to achieve the body they want.Nothing inherently wrong with these exercises. But randomly throwing together exercises that target a specific body part for ultra high reps with no rhyme or reason is not effective.It’s okay to want engagement.Of course we should encourage exercise.But you can do so without misleading others or promoting the idea that you need to fix “problematic” areas of your body.
