To make a veeeery long (19 year old) story short….

People keep asking me “what happened” and I could share with you all what happened exactly but 1) it’s complicated and 2) it’s fairly personal and 3) the details are kind of irrelevant.

The exact reasons for the initial relationship breakdown caused damage, yes, but they were not (in my eyes) the cause of the separation.
The cause was what came next. Poor communication. Defensiveness. Avoidance. Disrespect. Contempt.
Lack of repair. Lack of understanding. Inability to come together and to grow together.

The past two years have been the most agonisingly painful years of my life.. as I scrambled to keep something together while it was disintegrating in front of my eyes.
I felt like I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, couldn’t function in any normal way.

Almost 3 months out and starting to feel okay again, in a way I had forgotten was possible.
I am feeling confident that I’m on the right path.. and I hope Ro and I can continue to work on ourselves and work together as a team to be the best parents for our children that we both cherish. ❤️❤️❤️
