Negativity often doesn’t get to me. I’ve been on this rodeo for a long time so my skin is pretty thick 😂 BUT I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been mentally affected by some of the most recent comments about me as a mum. Maybe it’s an insecurity or maybe I’m playing victim. Who knows. But I’ve never understood mum shaming and the mental toll it weighs on you!Mums have it really hard and I didn’t realise it until I became a mother myself. You are fundamentally just a girl really trying her best for your child and self. Some have help and others don’t, some focus purely on being a stay at home mum and others try to continue their careers and be a mum all at once. I’ve never lied about the help I am fortune to have I’ve been pretty open about it, not to make anyone feel bad, but rather to not paint an unrealistic expectations on women. I simple and physically cannot possibly do it all by myself it’s just impossible and sometimes one thing takes priority over the other. People have become so rigid in their way of thinking about how a mother should act and conform to. We are expecting a mother to be one specific way to fit a narrative society has built for centuries. The reality is if you can you should get support and not be made to feel guilty about it. My reality is not every bodies and nor is someone else to me. I’m sharing my personal experience I’m not trying to hurt anyone. But I equally didn’t want to lie about doing it all when I’m really not and this is what works for me and my family. We are trying our best we really need to stop the mum shaming I’m not a housewife and don’t want to be and that’s OKAY.

The term bounce back actually can be pretty daunting. Reality is you never really bounce back, the body you had even a year ago really isn’t the body you have today. Once I had my baby my focus was on rebuilding on the foundations I had put in place. It was also about rebuilding my metal state, my habits, motivation to even show up in moments when I really didn’t want to. When your body is going through change you can’t think about getting back to how things were. You have to think about building and building daily on a new version of you. A stronger version. Reality is….mum and dad need some time together too. Having a date night a week literally is the best thing we do for our relationship 🤍

I thought this was important to share as I’ve seen a lot of people say, “You snapped back quickly because you had the foundations.” YES, you’re 100% right, but it was never quick! Firstly, everyone’s journey is very, very different, so you could be lifting for years before you fall pregnant, and your recovery could be so different from mine. Not to mention, women who have C-sections need way longer to recover (you ladies are my heroes), so please know your journey is very, very unique. However, I firmly believe in and will advocate for strength training and believe all women should be lifting/moving their bodies. It will make you stronger physically and mentally to overcome. Enough stats support this. My “snap back” is from the foundation I built, not from a quick 4-week program! It was years of work, and YES, nutrition and genetics add to this equation, so don’t be fooled. I just hope this is your reminder to move your body, and nothing comes quickly. This is a journey, and fitness is meant to elevate your life, never consume it!

Six or seven years ago, my life SOLEY revolved around the gym, and I was fortunate to partner with brands that paid me to only post gym content and focus on being in the best shape of my life. But life has transformed in ways I never really imagined! two growing businesses, the joy of motherhood, and an astonishing amount of responsibilities mean solely focusing on fitness and gym content really isn’t the reality of my existence.I’ve realised that my posts haven’t captured the reality of being a working mom trying to balance it all. I’ve hesitated to break away from solely fitness-focused content because it felt safe, but now I see it’s time to embrace the full picture of my life.So, I’m excited to massively pull away from fitness content (you’ll still see some as the gym is my safe haven) and introduce “The Working Mum Diaries,” a new series where I’ll share the ups and downs of navigating this beautiful chaos. Each episode will delve into topics we can all relate to, sparking conversations about the challenges and wins we face. Thank you for your support and for being part of this journey with me.
