“Durante el postparto tuve un brote de lipedema y pensé que simplemente estaba engordando por el cambio de vida, el cansancio y las nuevas rutinas.Veía cómo mis piernas cambiaban, cómo aumentaban de volumen y cómo nada de lo que hacía parecía funcionar. Y como muchas mujeres, me culpaba a mí misma.Lo que no sabía entonces es que no era falta de esfuerzo ni de disciplina. Era lipedema.Dos años después tomé una decisión que cambió mi vida y mi cuerpo: me operé de lipedema en piernas completas.No fue una decisión estética. Fue una decisión de salud, de bienestar y de recuperar calidad de vida.Comparto esto porque sé que muchas mujeres están viviendo algo parecido y siguen pensando que es ‘normal’ después del embarazo o que simplemente tienen que esforzarse más.Si sientes que algo no encaja, escucha a tu cuerpo. Three years since I changed my life. Lipoedema surgery abroad is terrifying, stressful, difficult and painful BUT so worth doing. I didn’t know I had Lipoedema until I was at stage III. Surgery helped me so much to get back on track with my body and to look after it in the way it needed. If you are worried about going for surgery, I’m happy to talk. I’ve had four surgeries with @drburgosdelaobra_lipedema. ❤️‍🩹If I have one regret about my lipedema surgeries, it’s not that I did them...It’s that I didn’t do them sooner.I wish I had known what I know now before the progression. Before years of inflammation. Before the disease continued to change my body. Before age brought more skin laxity and made recovery more complicated.Would my results have been different if I’d done it earlier? Maybe.But here’s what I know for sure:Even with the challenges.Even with the recovery.Even with the loose skin.I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.Because for the first time in decades, my legs feel lighter. I have less pain. More mobility. More freedom. More hope.Lipedema took enough from me already. Voici le récapitulatif pour celles qui me rejoignent :📸 Photos de Gauche (Avant) : La situation initiale.Les Jambes (Bas) : Opérées le 23 Février 2026 (il y a un peu plus de 3 mois). L'objectif était de libérer les mollets et les chevilles.Les Cuisses (Haut) : Opérées le 28 Avril 2026 (J+28 aujourd'hui). L'objectif était de traiter le volume des cuisses, du tour des fesses et des genoux.📸 Photos de Droite (Après) : Aujourd'hui (Mai 2026).Le résultat sur les mollets et les chevilles se dessine déjà bien, la lymphe circule mieux.Les cuisses sont encore très gonflées par l’œdème post-opératoire récent, c'est tout à fait normal.Je vous montre tout cela avec beaucoup de transparence. Les cicatrices sont en train de guérir, l'œdème est présent, la peau doit se retendre... 6 MONTHS POST OP 🙈 feeling extra grateful that I chose my hard ❤️‍🩹 2025 was incredibly difficult and challenging for many different reasons but I’m so proud of how far I’ve come — let this be your sign to advocate for yourself and most importantly, your health 🫶🏼 Results are 6 months post lower leg surgery with @drburgosdelaobra_lipedema and prior to that, upper front and upper back surgeries + my arm surgery over the course of 9 months in 2025 !!#lipedema #lipedemaawareness #lipedemasurgery by @drburgosdelaobra_lipedema

I’ll never forget the moment I saw my arms for the first time after lipedema surgery.Just hours earlier, @drburgosdelaobra_lipedema removed 4.1 litres of lipedema from my arms… and when I finally looked down at them, I honestly couldn’t process what I was seeing.Even under all the compression, they looked smaller. Lighter. More in proportion with the rest of my body. They genuinely didn’t feel like my arms. I think I was in complete shock.For years, my arms made me feel trapped in my own body. I always felt top-heavy. I avoided sleeveless clothes. I covered up constantly. I hated the way the fat hung over my elbows and how self-conscious it made me feel every single day.But lying there post-op, it felt like a weight I’d been carrying for years had finally been lifted.For the first time in so long, I could actually imagine what life might feel like without constantly thinking about my arms. Without hiding. Without feeling heavy. Without feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.This has honestly been one of the toughest surgeries I’ve gone through physically and mentally… but deep down, I already know it’s going to be worth it 🥹 Thank you to @drburgosdelaobra_lipedema and the Lipemedical team for being with me every step of the way! 🫶🏼 by @drburgosdelaobra_lipedema

This is the story of Joka, a patient who travelled from Germany to Madrid to have lipedema surgery with us at Lipemedical(Dr Fernandez in her case):“Since I was 15, l’ve looked at myself and felt different.For years, I struggled to understand what was happening to my body, and it wasn’t until I turned 30 that I finally realized what was wrong.Lipoedema is so much more than just an “aesthetic issue” - it’s a chronic condition that brings pain, heaviness, and many unanswered questions. Sharing what lipedema means to many of our patients:“For as long as I can remember l’ve always been curvy, big thighs small waist. I always thought it was just genetics... plus I was well into my dancing and football.But as I got older, no matter how much I moved or how many salads I ate, my thighs refused to slim down. If anything, they seemed to have a mind of their own and got even bigger! I tried every diet under the sun, you name it, l’ve probably spent a small fortune chasing the tiniest change, but all the fat loss happened on my torso.Whilst my legs were still being stubborn.The heavier my legs felt, the more exhausting staying active became. What used to be fun started feeling like a workout battle with gravity itself.Then... drumroll, please... I discovered Lipoedema. Finally it wasn’t my fault. I wasn’t overeating. My body was just busy fighting inflammation. Sarah travelled from Michigan to Madrid to undergo a special surgical process with our team.
