But was he actually strong enough to lift it?
After helping coach the prep, I wanted to give some context around what actually happened.

At this level, there is zero margin for error.
Bodyweight matters. Timing matters. Peaking matters. Conditions matter.

And when you’re attempting something no human in history has ever done before, even the smallest variables can make a difference.

The big question…

Do I think Thor is strong enough to conventionally deadlift 515kg?

Triple-A is now testing a new check swing challenge system, and the current angle they’re using already has people debating it. At around a 45° view, hitters can take what looks like a pretty full swing and still have it ruled no swing.

The interesting part is how quickly the interpretation of a “check swing” could change if this reaches MLB. Once players realize how much they can get away with at certain angles, you already know they’re going to start pushing the limit.
