From 2014, to 2020, to 2026. From 42kg, to 55kg, to 64kg. From a girl, to a woman. In every photo, there’s a battle being fought, and won, and learnt from. First it was the obsession with being thin. Then it became the obsession with being strong, looking strong, always pushing and obsessing for more. And now? I’m learning that the healthiest version of yourself isn’t about perfection at all. I wanted to share this because lately my algorithm has started drifting back towards the “skinny is beautiful” message again, and, it’s just not true and should never, ever be the message! Strong is beautiful. Curvy is beautiful. Healthy is beautiful. And more than anything, being kind, genuine and comfortable in yourself is what truly matters. I write posts like this as if I’m mastering it all, but I’m still human. I still have moments where old thoughts creep back in. I still struggle with my mental health at times, I still get obsessive over things, and I still feel lonely now and then. But I think that’s part of life. Life isn’t a fairytale, and healing isn’t linear. What matters is that we keep going. We keep growing from all these experiences . And we learn to be a bit kinder to ourselves along the way❤️ Looking back at these photos, I don’t just see weight gain or physical change. I see resilience. I see healing. I see a woman who survived things she once thought she’d never recover from, and is now the women she is because she never gave up. And, I think that’s something to be proud of. I hope this message and this post can be helpful to anyone following my story who may be walking a similar path, or know someone who is. If you’re struggling with your mental health or battling thoughts you don’t feel ready to talk about, please know that you will recover. You will find a way to turn those obsessions into something healthier and more positive.
