⚖️ JUSTICE — At last. 🐴Three years ago in Acate, Sicily, a 10-year-old pony was tied to a car and dragged for 3 kilometers before being abandoned on the asphalt, still alive.OIPA volunteers rushed to save her. But her injuries were too severe. Veterinarians were forced to end her suffering with euthanasia. 💔This week, the Criminal Court of Ragusa convicted the 35-year-old man responsible: 1 year and 6 months in prison — WITHOUT suspension. Plus €1,500 in damages to OIPA, who fought for her in court every step of the way.It's not enough. No sentence can undo what she suffered.But this verdict matters. Because for years, animal cruelty in Italy too often ended without real consequences. This conviction sends a message: those who inflict suffering on animals WILL be held accountable. 🐴Every animal deserves respect.Every animal deserves protection.Every animal deserves a life free from cruelty.Rest in peace, little one. 🕊️ Rest in peace, Lance Bombardier Ciara Sullivan 🕊️On Friday, 15 May 2026, “Sully” — just 24 years old — fell from her horse at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, moments after performing for King Charles III with the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.Despite the immediate efforts of medics at the scene, she died from her injuries. 💔Ciara grew up in the saddle. Before joining the Army, she competed in showjumping. She went on to serve in one of the most prestigious ceremonial regiments in the world — known for volunteering to ride the most demanding horses, and for the quiet courage that earned her the deep respect of everyone around her.Her parents shared simply that she “passed away doing what she loved.” 🌹The King was said to be “greatly shocked and saddened” by the news.Today, the equestrian world rides with her family, her friends, and her regiment.Rest easy, Sully. 🐴 A HISTORIC DAY FOR HORSES 🐴After decades of operation, Canada's largest horse slaughterhouse — Bouvry Exports in Fort Macleod, Alberta — has officially closed its doors for good.This is the place where thousands of horses every year met their end. Former racehorses. Retired working horses. Family companions sold at auction. Wild horses. Many of them shipped from the United States, kept in feedlots for months, then slaughtered to supply the horse meat trade in Japan and Europe.For years, activists, journalists, and ordinary horse lovers fought to expose what was happening inside those walls. Undercover footage. Investigations. Protests. Petitions. Voices that refused to be silenced.And today, that fight paid off. 💔🤍The Canadian Horse Defence Coalition has confirmed that Bouvry Exports is permanently closed and no longer accepting horses for slaughter.For every horse lover who has ever looked into the eyes of a horse and seen a soul looking back — this victory is for you. For the rescue organizations who outbid kill buyers at auctions. For the volunteers who stood in the cold holding signs. For the journalists who refused to look away.But the work isn't finished. 🐴Horse slaughter still exists in Canada at Viande Richelieu in Quebec. Live horse exports to Japan still happen by plane.
