Manhattan: West 110th Street & 5th Avenue, a petit larceny suspect turned his arrest yesterday into a wrestling match inside a lake in Central Park. The incident began after the suspect allegedly stole a tap-payment machine from a Dry Cleaners on Lenox Avenue after they denied him from using the restroom. Officers from the @nypd 28th Precinct responded and attempted to apprehend him, but he fled on foot toward @centralparknyc and entered the Harlem Meer near West 110th Street and Fifth Avenue. The @nypdspecialops Emergency Service Unit members responded and deployed their scuba divers into the water to take him out. When an ESU officer reached the suspect, the suspect began physically resisting and wrestling with the officer in the water. During the struggle, another @nypd officer from the @nypdcommaffairs jumped into the lake fully clothed to assist in taking him into custody. Officers eventually removed the suspect from the water and placed him under arrest. EMS transported him to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
