But all jokes aside, I just put out a YouTube video talking about why I am childfree by choice and why I think it is SO IMPORTANT to not let societal expectations make you question your ideals.

While women’s rights have made HUGE strides in some parts of the world, it is said that about 45% of women in the world do not have bodily autonomy and child marriage is still widely practiced. It breaks my heart that so many women are forced into roles they maybe wouldn’t have otherwise chosen, if only they lived in a society that allowed people the freedom to choose how they want to build their own lives.

As someone who has gone against the grain in many respects, I am beyond grateful to have the rights and privileges I have now and that is because of the women who fought so fiercely before me. The least I can do now is remind women (and of course men) that they should exercise the freedom to build their lives as they wish and not judge those who choose differently.

I absolutely support women being mothers if that is their souls calling. It is a vital role in society that does not receive the proper support it deserves in my opinion and I hope more governments will begin to support women’s health and childcare needs on a much higher level.

Having said that, I also greatly support people choosing NOT to have children whether they just don’t want to or if the sacrifices are just too great. I believe that having children is the BIGGEST life decision which will alter almost all other aspects of your life, so make it WISELY.
