FBI said agents stopped a vehicle with Abdulhafedh and others inside around 3 p.m. They were wanted in connection with a bank robbery.

Chopper 7 was over the scene, where a large Chicago police and SWAT response could be seen in the 3700-block of West Lexington Avenue in Homan Square near Garfield Park.

Witnesses say Abdulhafedh fired shots from the sun roof of an SUV, and agents returned fire, killing him.
