Metallica continues to set new milestones with its M72 World Tour. During its recent concert in Berlin on May 30, the band drew more than 94,000 fans to the city’s Olympic Stadium, establishing the highest attendance ever recorded for a single event at the venue.The previous record belonged to U2, which attracted around 88,000 spectators during a 2009 performance. Opened for the 1936 Olympic Games, the stadium officially holds just over 74,000 people. The new mark was made possible by Metallica’s circular M72 stage design, which maximizes visibility and allows nearly every seat in the venue to be used.The achievement comes only weeks after Metallica also set a new attendance record at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece, where more than 90,000 fans attended the opening show of the European leg of the tour. The band had previously surpassed attendance figures associated with Taylor Swift’s concerts at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.With the Berlin performance, Metallica has now surpassed 500,000 concertgoers in 2026.
