1 month post-op lipedema surgery ❤️‍🩹 I was scrolling through my camera roll and felt this video from before my surgery really showed how much of a difference there is in my legs post-op. I haven’t got tonnes of post-op content yet because my legs are in double compression at almost every waking minute of the day 😆 but I went for my first swim and was so taken aback by the changes I saw, that I had to film a little clip. This isn’t really a proper “after” - I’ve still got a long way to go with healing and post-op swelling takes a good amount of time to settle down - but I’m feeling so happy with the changes I can see so far and wanted to share 😍 the recovery of my kneecaps and the reduction in volume on my shins and calves feels like a huge change to me. In spite of recovery still being underway, I can already feel the differences in my mobility, and a new sense of lightness in my legs. It’s all feeling VERY worth the process. seeing my new legs for the first time after lipedema surgery, my real reaction 😭 this is honestly so emotional for me to look back on, besides the fact that I was still loopy from the anaesthetic and pain meds, I just couldn’t believe those legs were really mine. feels vulnerable to share but I’m so glad I captured these raw moments as they were happening ❤️‍🩹 exactly 2 weeks post-op today! My lipedema surgery was with the incredible Lipemedical team in Madrid. I did it 🥹🙌🏼 A lifetime of wondering what’s “wrong” with my legs, of pain, of swelling, of wondering why I looked so different to all of my friends. A lifetime of knowing something isn’t quite right but being told you’re just “not doing enough”. A lifetime of pain, heaviness, unexplained bruising and puffy ankles. I know my fellow lipedema warriors will relate to all of these feelings. After having lost over 75kg in an attempt to mitigate my lipedema, completely changing my entire diet and lifestyle habits in the process, the stage 2 lipedema in my lower legs simply wouldn’t budge. So here’s to a new chapter - 2.9 litres of painful, diseased tissue removed from my legs. Grateful to the incredible Lipemedical team for not only being a trustworthy surgical team that delivers safe results, but also for being so passionate about helping women affected by this grossly misunderstood disease, spreading awareness and offering support and education. It’s been an extremely emotional ride and I still have a lot of healing to do before seeing any “final results” - this isn’t really a surgery for instant gratification - but I wanted to share the photo from my surgery day that brought me to tears. 20-03-26, Madrid, Spain 🏥 I’ve had my lipedema surgery 😊 the start of a new chapter. Feeling all the feels ❤️‍🩹 it’s been a long time coming. I’ve documented the entire thing so stay tuned for updates and all the details when I’m feeling up to it - currently getting some rest as per doctor’s orders! 😆 Any questions, feel free to leave them below and I’ll do my best to reply when I can.
