I’m turning 60 next month, and I keep thinking about the woman I was at 50.

There was so much she couldn’t have known. The loss she would learn to live with. The friendships, the work, the places she would see. The joy she would feel again.

I wish I could tell her: you don’t have to have the next ten years figured out. Just leave room for things to surprise you.

Today I’m in Paris with my daughter, doing work I love, still discovering what I’m capable of.

Still curious. Still becoming.

What would you tell the woman you were ten years ago? ♥️

After decades in Hollywood, Robert Downey Jr. finally got his Oscar moment, and it was worth the wait.

At the 96th Academy Awards in 2024, Downey won Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. It was his first Academy Award win, coming more than 30 years after his first Oscar nomination for Chaplin in 1993. His performance as the man who becomes one of J. Robert Oppenheimer's fiercest political rivals earned widespread acclaim and marked another unforgettable milestone in one of Hollywood's most remarkable career comebacks.

WHIPLASH (2014) — Directed by Damien Chazelle, starring Miles Teller, J.K. Simmons, Paul Reiser, and Melissa Benoist.

The film follows Andrew Neiman, an ambitious young jazz drummer studying at one of the most prestigious music conservatories in the country. Determined to become one of the greatest musicians of his generation, Andrew pushes himself beyond his limits in pursuit of perfection.

His life takes a dramatic turn when he catches the attention of Terence Fletcher, an intimidating and brutally demanding music instructor known for his unconventional teaching methods.

What begins as an opportunity to prove his talent soon becomes an intense psychological battle between a student desperate for greatness and a teacher obsessed with pushing people beyond their breaking point.

As Andrew sacrifices his relationships, health, and peace of mind, the line between discipline and abuse, ambition and obsession, begins to disappear.

Driven by extraordinary performances, relentless editing, and an electrifying jazz score, Whiplash transforms the pursuit of perfection into a nerve-racking psychological experience.

A brutal exploration of ambition, obsession, sacrifice, and the terrifying price of greatness.
