Van McCoy 'Disco Baby' (1975) containing one of the most well-known #disco tracks of all time, The Hustle. This is the rarest of the rare Japanese CD-4 #quadraphonic version, only in print for a couple of years and almost impossible to find. Despite being from a critically derided genre, this album has some heavy NYC session cats on it, including two of my favourite Steely Dan drummers, @rickmarotta and #stevegadd . #soul #funk #RandB #quadradisc #steelydan #vinyl #album #LP #vanmccoy #vanmccoyandthesoulcitysymphony #avco

@rolandsh1000 very discrete, even with the 30dB separation limitation of CD-4. Rhythm section in the front and other stuff all around, even some 360 degree swirls. The label I write for put out some easy listening SACDs earlier this year culled from some Japan-only CD-4 masters and it's ridiculous how good the mixes are, and so weird that labels would go to all that work for such a niche release. This album sounds like it would be just as good from the masters... Maybe they'll get the rights to it someday, along with the Motown quads from Japan, which are equally great.
