After two days of great weather and then a decent day turning into what looked to be hell on a tropical island, and I’m not talking about the hoards of awful inconsiderate backpackers or the greedier locals that will try to nickel and dime you. I’m talking about the monsoons that washes away all of the drunken disregard many of the incapable-of-selflessness tourists bring. A storm, while a necessary part of the cycle of keeping the island beautiful, was not what we want to be stranded on the island for.
.
It was time to escape.
.
Before hopping on a high speed catamaran, which in choppy waters isn’t the best experience and creates hoards of hungover seasick millennials, we stopped by a local coffee shop to caffeinate and fill our stomachs full of food before hopping on the wild ride. Probably wasn’t the best idea.
.
At the coffee shop, with modern interiors and open aired seating, we opted for the traditional breakfast sando, which we thought was a safe option. We were wrong. The hockey puck like bread was what looked to be a large fluffy sourdough that turned out to be neither sour nor fluffy. The egg, while being deliciously orange yolked, was fried flat and thin and much larger than the already large piece of bread it laid on. (A major annoyance of mine.) The sausage was crispy and is really great if you like those 7 Eleven breakfast sausages they leave on the rollers all day. Unfortunately, I was young and drunk once and know what those taste like. While it wasn’t the best breakfast I’ve ever had, the coffee was good for Asia (says @acsartell).
.
#TLDR ; Come here for the coffee and cute ambience.
