Sweet Belgian Liege Waffle with Sous Vide Chicken and Carrots.
.
A friend just got out of surgery, we’ll call him Brandon, because that’s actually his name. Well Brandon, being in utter agonizing pain from a very minor surgery and just couldn’t, needed people to take care of him so we had him over for the day. Well, aside from being quite the character, Brandon is also very particular about what he puts in his body. Pizza, fries, french toast, and waffles is pretty much it. I decided to be a good friend and make him waffles. What I didn’t realize was how much dough I would have left over. So waffles for dinner and dessert!
.
Anytime I think of savory waffles, I think chicken and waffles, duh. Currently working on my “beach bod” for no reason, I decided against a deep fried chicken. Also, being 6 months into owning an InstaPot (because Instant Pot is too much to say), I decided that it was time to finally take advantage of the sous vide function of it since that’s how I justified getting the most expensive model. So sous vide chicken was the “healthier” decision I came to.
.
No one told me sous viding takes patience. If anyone knows anything about me, it’s that I’m not a very patient man. If the chicken wasn’t enough to wait for, I decided to torture myself and also sous vide the carrots. Essentially what you’re actually looking at here is a plate I painstakingly and excruciatingly made by staring blankly at the water and waiting for the timer to reach zero for each thing, because I’m OCD as well. I’m pretty confident that I endured more while cooking dinner than Brandon did with his “surgery”.
