The 8th and final style of art is postmodernism and deconstructivism (c. 1970- )

Postmodernism is a movement that started in the late 20th-century. It was created as a “revolt” from modernism, which was around for a little over 60 years. Some stylistic techniques that made postmodern art recognizable are: fragmentation, irony, and embracing the idea of “temporary.” Deconstructivism is a branch of postmodern architecture that began in the late 1980s. It is distinguishable from other ideas of art by fragmentation. Fragmentation is when you can see different “chunks” in a piece of art. There is also an interest in manipulating ideas of a structure's surface or skin. This means that a normal looking human would not look normal in a deconstructive art painting, but distorted, rather.
