A Spanish scientist is getting attention online for work that actually matters. Dr. Mariano Barbacid led research showing a major breakthrough against the most common type of pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest cancers to treat. His team used a three-drug combination to attack the cancer from multiple angles. In lab mice designed to closely mimic human disease, the treatment eliminated tumors completely, showed low toxicity, and didn’t recur. Experts say human trials are still years out, but for a cancer that kills over 10,000 people a year in Spain alone, the results are being called extremely promising. Barbacid, who helped discover the RAS cancer gene in 1982, says this could be a real step toward changing outcomes for a disease with one of the worst survival rates.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A 24-year-old man is facing the possibility of spending nearly a century behind bars after prosecutors said he repeatedly sold the same car to eight different buyers, then stole it back from each new owner using a spare key he secretly kept. Investigators said the scheme worked the same way every time: he advertised the vehicle online, collected cash, handed over what appeared to be the only key, then tracked the buyer down days later and drove the car away overnight. He would then clean it up, post it for sale again under a different listing and repeat the process with another victim. Police eventually connected the reports after realizing eight different people were all claiming the exact same car had been stolen from them. He allegedly sold one vehicle eight times — and now faces up to 98 years in prison for refusing to let it stay sold. 😭 Follow @dumbpeoplehub for more.
