India’s eastern coastline is facing another severe weather emergency as Cyclone Murasu, the second major cyclonic storm in a week, made landfall near Ongole in Andhra Pradesh early Tuesday, November 3, bringing torrential rainfall, powerful winds and widespread disruption. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclone developed over the Bay of Bengal before intensifying into a severe cyclonic storm, with sustained winds of 100–110 kmph and gusts reaching 120 kmph. Red warnings were issued for Andhra Pradesh and adjoining northern Tamil Nadu as authorities rushed to evacuate thousands of residents from vulnerable coastal areas. Heavy rainfall battered several coastal districts, flooding roads and disrupting traffic, including in Vijayawada. Flight cancellations and transport disruptions were also reported as the storm approached the coast. Disaster response teams were mobilised, while Tamil Nadu dispatched 500 electricity personnel and three National Disaster Response Force teams to assist Andhra Pradesh with rescue, relief and restoration operations. Authorities also warned of dangerous sea conditions and a possible storm surge of 1–1.5 metres along vulnerable coastal stretches. Residents in affected areas were advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from the shoreline and follow official weather advisories as emergency teams continued monitoring the situation. The cyclone comes just days after another severe storm threatened India’s eastern coast, putting disaster preparedness and the safety of thousands of coastal families back in focus.

New York City has a way of making a finish line feel even bigger. Crossing the finish line of the #AbbottDash5K was one of those moments when I wanted to stop, look around, and really take it all in. I’ve learned that accomplishing a goal isn’t always about the result. Sometimes the most meaningful part is becoming the person who was willing to set the goal in the first place. There was a time when I wouldn’t have imagined races becoming such an important part of my life. Now I find myself looking forward to starting lines, recognizing familiar faces along the course, soaking up every #GoAchilles cheer, and feeling that rush when the finish line finally comes into view. And doing it in New York made this one especially memorable. I love this city. I love its energy. I love that on race day complete strangers will cheer for you like they’ve known you forever. And I love that for a few miles, everyone is moving toward the same thing, even though every person out there has a completely different story about what brought them to that starting line. I certainly have mine. So this finish line wasn’t about proving anything to anyone else. It was about taking another moment to appreciate where I am right now and the fact that I’m still finding new ways to challenge myself. Another 5K. Another New York memory. Another goal accomplished. And, naturally, I’m already wondering what’s next.
