Tired of dating apps? Finland is taking matchmaking to another level, offering single people from across the world an all-expenses-paid trip to the country, complete with flights, hotel stays, meals and romantic dinner dates with locals. The initiative, called Finnish Dinner Date, has been launched by Finland’s tourism board, Visit Finland. The selected participants will enjoy a four-day holiday between February 9 and 19, 2027, exploring Finnish culture, food and scenic destinations. Participants will travel to Helsinki and Tampere, where they will attend candlelit group dinner dates alongside local Finnish singles. The experience includes specially curated meals by renowned Finnish chefs, sightseeing, cultural activities and opportunities to connect with other singles. However, the dinner dates will be group experiences rather than individual matchmaking sessions, and finding a romantic partner is not guaranteed. Anyone aged 18 or above who is single and does not reside in Finland can apply, including Indians. The idea was inspired by Finland’s viral Sinkkukori trend, where single shoppers carry pink supermarket baskets to signal that they are open to meeting someone. Applications close on November 10, 2026, at 11:59 AM Finnish time, and the winners will be announced on December 1. The campaign aims not only to help people make meaningful connections but also to introduce visitors to Finland’s lesser-known food culture. After all, even if they don’t find love, they might leave with a new favourite country.
