A Ghost at our Cottage… 👻 Well, it is Halloween after all… so I thought it might be the perfect opportunity to share a few of our rather curious experiences with the unexplained. We live in a farmhouse dating back to 1719 and I’ve always felt a presence here, nothing sinister, thankfully. The old curator at the Castle confirmed that ours isn’t the only farm steading on the Raby estate where the television has been known to switch itself on at 3am, at full volume, for absolutely no apparent reason! I’ve had two rather curious experiences while working as a room guide at the castle, both in my favourite room. On the first occasion, I felt a very firm tug on the back of my blazer. I actually gasped, thinking I’d caught it on an ornament or the door handle, but I was nowhere near either. It felt rather mischievous and playful and, strangely enough, I wasn’t frightened at all. On another occasion, in that very same room, I caught sight of what looked like a ghostly reflection in a bookcase. But perhaps my strangest experience happened many years ago, shortly after my mum passed away. While visiting a customer, I saw a gentleman standing beside her table, quite clearly, folding newspapers. I described exactly what I’d seen to the lady, who immediately recognised him as her late husband. She told me that he used to fold his newspapers in precisely that spot. I’d never met him. Now, I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I’ve certainly experienced a few things over the years that I simply can’t explain. Our little ghostly visitor today was just for a bit of Halloween fun, but Daisy certainly took to her role beautifully, and I think you’ll agree she rather stole the show 👻 Are you a believer? lately. 🤎🤎 the past few weeks/months have been really confusing for me. i have days where i feel so grateful for the life we’ve created, and A LOT of days where i feel crippled by depression and anxiety. idk how much the lack of quality sleep is contributing, but lately things have felt unbearably heavy. i wanted to share this because i know there are moms who watch my motherhood content and probably think i have it all figured out when i don’t! i have a village. i have a supportive, active husband. and i STILL struggle. you don’t always see me yelling at my kids and having to apologize. or being mean to my husband when he doesn’t deserve it because i’m irritable and overwhelmed. 😓 a few minutes of our day will never tell the whole story. i’m grateful for the friends who check in. my neighbors and in-laws who show up and help. my husband who sees me in my darkest moments and still extends me grace. my kids who make me feel like the greatest mom in the world, even on the days i lose my shit and have to own it. i still have dark days and dark moments. i’m truly doing my best, and i’m looking forward to getting more help with this. 🤞🏾 if you’ve been feeling something similar, i see you. you can love your kids, appreciate your village, and still struggle with the weight of it all. two things can be true: you can be grateful for your life and still need help getting through your days. ***you don’t have to wait until you can’t take any more to ask for support !!** 🤎🤎🤎🤎
