I’m deeply saddened about this news. This photo was taken when we played together in Tokyo this past September. He wasn’t looking very well and actually performed his set while seated, but it was incredible, 100% pure “Magic” set. It breaks my heart that this became the final moment with him. As everybody knows, he was the true originator who shaped the blueprint of techno - a format that has since become one of the biggest club music genres in the world. Without him, techno simply wouldn’t exist. When I first started producing, his music had a profound influence on me. I studied his track structures and tones inside out, listening to each of his songs thousands of times. Once I established myself as a professional artist, I had the privilege of playing alongside him around the world as his fellow @randsrecords label mate. We shared stages across Europe - in countries like Belgium and Spain - at DEMF in Detroit, and, of course, many times here in Japan. I first met him back in ’94 in Gent Belgium, when I was invited to a house party at a home of an R&S staff. I remember we were eating a local rabbit stew cooked in Trappist beer when he suddenly asked for ice cream. He was a wonderful mentor who was usually quiet and of few words, but always full of humor whenever he spoke. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace, Juan Atkins.
The longer you stay where you don’t belong, the more it costs you to leave. ⛓️🔓 ⠀ Most people know long before they act. The relationship that stopped feeling right. The job that drains them every single day. The friendship that only ever takes. They feel it, but they stay, because leaving is scary and familiar feels safer. ⠀ So they wait. For a better time, for a sign, for things to somehow fix themselves. And every month they wait, the exit gets harder. More years invested, more excuses, more fear of starting over. ⠀ Leaving early will hurt. There’s no way around that. But it’s a clean hurt, the kind you recover from. Staying too long is a slower pain, and it takes things you can never get back. Your time, your energy and the version of you that could have been thriving somewhere else. ⠀ The jump only looks terrifying from the edge. Once you land, you’ll realize staying was the real risk all along. ⠀ Follow @Wealth to learn valuable advice every time you open Instagram. ⭐ ⠀ #Wealth #Courage #Growth #Mindset #LifeLessons
