Kis ka Hai Ye Tum ko Intezar “Main Hoon Na”

#saifalikhan #dilonkawazeer #tamasha

“At 8:00 AM, I’m in a white coat at the hospital, treating patients in pain. At 8:00 PM, I’m behind a DJ console, setting the stage on fire. How? Because I chose to have it all.
Growing up in a village in Rajasthan, girls were raised with one silent rule: don’t cause a stir, get a degree, and settle down. Until 11th grade, I didn’t even speak English. I had asthma, and during my 12th boards, inhalers failed me; I took injections just to sit through my papers. Still, I scored a 100 in Biology, cracked NEET, and landed an All-India dental seat in Punjab.
Once college started, life settled into a rigid rhythm. My hospital duties ended at 2:30 PM, leaving the rest of the afternoon wide open. One day, I randomly filled out a form to volunteer for a music company. During concerts, standing backstage and watching DJs control the entire crowd, I thought, Why not me?
I pestered the DJs after the show, asking them to teach me. They showed me the basics. I bought my own console, hauled it to my hostel room, and spent my late nights teaching myself how to beat-match and drop tracks. But the backlash was instant.
In college, a professor singled me out and bullied me for having a life outside medicine. It got so toxic that in third year, I had a severe panic attack and collapsed in the hallway. I had two choices: shrink to make them comfortable, or hit back harder.
I kept up with my hospital attendance, studied relentlessly, and won an academic medal that year. That’s when the whispers died. Soon after, I co-founded a medical study app and continued working on my skills as a DJ. Recently, my app received funding, and the same company I had been volunteering with launched me on stage for my debut set in front of thousands.
Today, my schedule is pure adrenaline. Some nights, I’m working on my startup till 5:00 AM, sleeping for two hours and then reporting for hospital duty at 8:00 AM. Once my mandatory hospital internship ends next month, I’m booking my parents front-row tickets so my dad can watch his doctor daughter own the stage.
So, whether it’s a patient waiting for me at the hospital or a crowd waiting for me on stage, I have one plan: show up and give

…you let yourself be seen.

Normally you’ll find me in sweats 😅 So getting dressed up for a gala in a bright red dress?

Waaaayyy outside my comfort zone. 😳

Here’s what I’m learning in this new chapter of my life:

Coming back to dance has been one permission slip after another.

1. Permission to get back in the room.

2. Permission to get uncomfortable learning new things.

3. Permission to feel confident in my own skin.

4. Permission to play life full out.

5. And now… permission to let myself BE SEEN.

Every time I give myself a little more permission, dance changes how I see myself, what I’m capable of, and what’s possible for me… AND new paid opportunities are starting to show up too. 💵

And when we do new and uncomfortable things, it’s always more fun with someone by your side.

Thank you @jeanniefit for saying yes to this with me 🙏🏽

That’s exactly why I created the DANCE Collective: a place where we use dance to explore bigger, more confident, more FREE versions of ourselves… and get seen, heard, and felt out in the world in whatever way we choose. 🏆🏆🏆

Comment “COLLECTIVE” and I’ll send you the link to join us every Friday at the founding members’ rate of $55 a month, yours for as long as you stay. Rates go up on December 1st. 💫
