Birthday update:
With all of the heartbreaking news coming out of Ukraine since the beginning of the war, and especially the tragedies happening in Odesa since the beginning of March, it has been hard to feel celebratory about anything. When circumstances or relationships go opposite of what I hoped they would be, I can easily tend toward despair, and there's been a handful of that this past year for sure.
I have really needed the truth of Biblical Scripture, reminding me that Jesus will never leave nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5), that He is a gentle shepherd who feeds and gathers His lambs and holds them close (Isaiah 40:11), that His mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:13), that I can fully trust the Lord (Proverbs 3:5), and that God's love (demonstrated in the sacrifice of Jesus - Romans 5:8-11) is better than life itself (Psalm 63:3) - which will continue forever (John 11:25-26)!
According to Western calendars, this March 19th was the official start of Spring! During my walk to meet up with good friends for a birthday brunch, I got to see evidences of that in beautiful array, here in Brasov, Romania! God's redemptive works appear all the time and are as faithful as the change of the seasons. 🌻💐🪻🎵🎶🐦
My 3 girls called in and sang to me, along with my mother-in-law (no photo😓), and I received special messages all day from so many of you, near and far! I was further blessed with gifts, gorgeous bouquets and delicious food when friends and family gathered and appeased my wish to play the somewhat complex version of Harry Potter CLUEDO!
It was a good day to turn another year older, and reminisce on God's faithfulness to me throughout all my 53 years!
