Why people cling to ‘Things’ after a LOVED ONE dies?

Why do we cling to a loved one’s things after they die, like the sweater you won’t wash because it still smells like them? It can look like you’re stuck, but grief researchers say it’s one of the most natural things we do. Psychologists call it a continuing bond. When someone dies, we don’t stop loving them. The relationship changes form, and their belongings become a bridge to them. Their voice, their laugh, the way they said your name can fade over time, and an object brings them rushing back when memory alone can’t. Because these bonds show up in nearly every culture and era, researchers no longer see letting go as the goal of healthy grief. Staying connected is. Neuroscientists have even found that a cherished belonging can light up the same love and attachment regions of the brain that activate when the person is near. That’s also why letting go can physically hurt. So if you’re keeping your mother’s handwriting or your husband’s old jacket, there’s no deadline to let go and no shame in keeping what comforts you. If grief ever makes daily life hard to manage, talking with a grief counselor can help. Follow for more honest conversations about grief and caregiving, and share this with someone who’s holding on to something precious.#Grief #Caregiving #HealthyAging

the phantom of the opera is there inside my mind

Every town needs good girls

Oner really knows how to make a girl feel special 🥺💖

So so so thankful for the entire Oner team 😭🫂🤍 I know you guys have SO much on your plates right now, yet you still find ways to make these moments so special for us too. None of your hard work ever goes unnoticed, and I hope you know how appreciated you are. SO SO THANKFUL for you @hannah.oseyi 🤍

And thank you @krissycela for always dreaming so BIG and creating a space where the rest of us feel like we can do the same. Watching your dreams come to life while getting to be a little part of it all is something I’ll never take for granted. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH 😭🤍

to my GIRLS 😭🫂🤍 I hope you know just how much of a part you play in all of this. Every single bit of love, support, every time you use my code, share my content, or simply show up for me NEVER goes unnoticed.

I get to experience moments like this because of YOU TOO. And I hope you know I never take that lightly. 🥹

I wish I could pack every single one of you in my suitcase and bring you along to NYC with me 😭😭

Thank you for continuing to grow with me, believe in me, and be part of this little community we’ve built together. I LOVE YOU GIRLS SO MUCH. These wins will always be OUR wins. 🫂🤍
