I chose to travel to Liverpool for two reasons... The Beatles and LFC. Attending a Liverpool FC match and singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" before the game with 50,000+ fans in Anfield was an absolutely amazing experience. Them winning was just icing on the cake. I felt more fan energy in that stadium than I ever felt in any of the largest college football games I've attended. YNWA 🔴
I awoke early one morning for a solo Beatles walking tour. Serendipitously, my favorite Twitch music program was breaking down Eleanor Rigby and With a Little Help... Wow! To be listening to isolated Beatles vocals while strolling Penny Lane brought tears to my eyes. I have never felt so connected to a band than in those moments... It was an experience I look back on as one of my favorite life moments and so thankful I was able to cherish it while it was happening.
The weather was crisp, but there was no rain which provided perfect walking conditions. In 2.5 days I walked over 60,000 steps all along the shore and throughout the city center. The last pic I decided was the best dish I ate on this entire 30 day trip. The Hardware Cafe was near my hotel and open early... perfect. I decided on an americano and a dish named Hardy's Shrooms... Pan fried mushrooms in garlic and herb cream sauce on a toasted, thick slice of brioche with a soft poached egg and crispy herb crumbles. Extremely balanced and flavorful with all the right textures. I would go back to Liverpool if only to eat this dish again!
