Hello from Bella, Edward, Jacob, and Renesmee 🧛🏻🍎
Woke up and checked the results and honestly felt an absolute mountain lifted off my chest seeing Trump and his allies get battered and lose so many seats in the Senate after everything we have had to watch over the years. It is staggering to step back and take in the full scale of the chaos from his thirty four criminal convictions and being found liable in court for sexual abuse to ripping migrant kids away from their parents at the border and pushing the Muslim ban. You have got decades of shameless grift from sham universities to shutting down his own charity for self dealing while cashing in billions since taking office through endless deals and ventures alongside his disgusting habit of berating female reporters with vile insults whenever they dare ask a real question. Then look at the sheer brutality at home with rogue, heavy handed ICE raids tearing apart innocent, hardworking families and leaving fatalities in their wake, leaving you wondering how on earth someone was allowed to unleash this much cruelty without immediate consequences. The foreign policy record is equally horrifying whether it is cozying up to murderer Putin while turning on Zelenskyy, giving unconditional backing to that monster Netanyahu, triggering soaring western oil prices through relentless Middle East escalations, or the horrific devastation in Iran where U.S strikes hit an elementary school killing over a hundred and sixty young girls. For so long it felt like accountability was completely impossible while ordinary people paid the price, but watching voters finally turn out and strip his power away in the Senate feels like the first real sign that division and corrupt power have limits and hope is finally back on the table. He belongs in jail. And I hope karma comes and visits him soon. Disgusting excuse for a human and I still can’t believe a convicted rapist was allowed to be president. Here’s to brighter days ahead x

Day 2 of resharing some of my favorite memories with Nonno ❤️🪽 My nonno and nonna’s story began in Latronico, a small mountain town in southern Italy. Their families were friends, so they had known each other their whole lives, but they started dating when my nonna was just 14 and my nonno was 16. My nonno came from a humble family, but he had big dreams. Those dreams took him to Naples to study medicine, and after earning his degree, he returned home and married my nonna. Just one month after their wedding, he left for America, where the rest of his family had already settled, hoping to build a better life. My nonna stayed behind while he spent a year working, saving, and getting established. When he had enough money, he sent for her to join him. Soon after she arrived, they welcomed my uncle Paul and began building their family together. That young boy from a small mountain town went on to become a family doctor with his own practice in Astoria, Queens, where he cared for generations of families over more than 60 years. To so many people in the neighborhood, he was someone they knew, trusted, and loved. Above everything, though, he was a family man. He loved the life they built in America, though he stayed so connected to the people and the town where it all began. Until the very end, he kept close relationships with his cousins and family in Italy. Hearing the affection people speak about him with, whether they knew him as family, a friend, or their doctor, says so much about the person he was. My grandparents went back to Latronico every summer, and as they got older, those visits stretched into months. My brother and I grew up spending our summers there with them, too. We got to know the people, the food, and the traditions they had grown up with, and made our own memories in the place where their story began. That little town will always hold such a special place in our hearts because of them. They gave us a life here, and they gave us roots there. I’m so grateful we got to share both.
