Democrats won control of both the House and Senate in a historic 2026 midterm sweep 🗳️

In Texas, Gina Hinojosa defeated Gov. Greg Abbott to become the first Democrat to win the governor’s race in 36 years. She’ll also be the first Latina governor in Texas history.

In Georgia, former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms became the first Black woman elected governor in U.S. history. And in Kansas, voters elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate for the first time since 1932.

When the new Congress takes office in January, President Trump will need support from Democrats to pass new laws during his final two years in office.
