Heading into higher altitudes (3800m ) of Alti Plano plateau to Chivay and the Colca valley - air is thin and cold but super clean and clear - been told we must move and breath slowly to get used to it 😳. The plateau is bleak but dramatic - surrounded by loads of volcanoes (2 of them still active 😮) and the Andes cordillera range. This is llama, alpaca and vicuña land . The beautiful big eyed vicuña have the the worlds most expensive wool - it is supremely delicate and way better and mucho expensive than cashmere - they only get shorn every three years on the nape of their necks and breast so small amounts hence the crazy 4 to 5 figures for the cloth
