The Fluid Family is devastated to announce the passing of Michelle Henry, a beloved member of our trans community, and part of our Fluid Community, who was killed last week. Michelle’s sweetness, kindness, and joyful spirit touched everyone she met, and her tragic loss impacts us all.
Michelle’s passing reminds us that far too many of our trans femme and gender non-conforming siblings have been lost to violence. San Francisco prides itself on being a safe heaven for those who are oppressed yet even in our “bubble” Black Trans Women are facing alarming rates of violence. We are grieving with our community and continue to advocate for the safety and dignity of all of us.
Community will be gathering tonight at @motherbarsf to honor Michelle’s memory. We hope to see you there.
If you are in need of mental health support Trans Lifeline’s hotline is (877) 565-8860 and @trans_thrive will be holding space for community daily this week 2pm to 4pm.
