I’m excited to share my TEDx talk that I gave in Laguna Beach about the importance of local knowledge of community and place, why local grassroots organizing is so effective, and how to scale community-led advocacy to create exponential impact.
This talk is largely based on my decades of experience at
@surfrider where I have witnessed our incredible activists and staff take on issues locally, and then bring them to scale at the state, federal level and create real positive impact for our coasts and ocean.
The threats are urgent, the stakes are high, and there is a way for everyone to get involved in conservation and climate action.
Check it out via the link in my bio and please feel free to share it.
Thanks to
@richgermanlb and the
@tedxlagunabeach team for including me and for organizing a great event and
@millionpersonproject for helping me shape this story and bring it to life. Thanks to my mom, dad, and brother
@frogwala for the experiences that shaped my worldview and a life connected to the ocean. Thanks to
@stumpyelle for all the support!
