BIPOC folks, bring your Pride to the garden!🌱🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Join us for “Planting with Pride,” an event for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) to support a historically Black community garden in NE DC.

EVENT DETAILS
🗓️ Sunday, June 16
🕙 10AM - 4PM
📍 Beet Street Garden (next to Sasha Bruce Youth Network building), 260 54th St. NE, Washington, DC

🟢 RSVP at the link in our bio or at @latinxhistoryproject.

That day, we’ll have plenty of ways for YOU to connect and learn about the garden together.🧤

Anyone can find a way to chip in from simply cleaning up debris to helping build new garden beds or a shed.

🟢 Transportation is limited and available when you RSVP on a first come first served basis. We’ll reach out to you to confirm closer to the event.

This is a #DCLatinxPride event presented by the @latinxhistoryproject as a part of an 11-event #PrideMonth series.

Special thanks to all the partners involved: Beet Street Gardens, @plantitapower, @dcfoodpower, and @lo_dmv.

NOTE: this event is for folks who are BIPOC. White allies are encouraged to support by donating for supplies and care products directly to us, our partner orgs (tagged below), or online through the donation box on the event’s page in @latinxhistoryproject’s calendar.

[Image descriptions: a carousel of three graphics. Slide 1: a graphic with two large poloroid pictures. The first shows Miss Joanne wearing round glasses and an orange shirt, smiling as she looks down at a carrot she pulled out of her garden. The second is a close up of two brown hands padding dirt around a seedling. The graphic has illustrations of a sun, clouds, and three black and brown characters around a garden bed tending to various gardening tasks. There is text with the name of the event, date, location, a paragraph of who this event is for and how white allies can support, and a visual button to RSVP or DONATE. Slide 2: a graphic with three small poloroid pictures of people clipping brushes, fixing a garden bed wood board, and of a damaged shed. The text reads: “The Day’s Activities. Clean up: Cleaning debris, clipping extra growth, pulling dead plants. Building: moving wood and dirt, clearing old posts, painting. Assembly: putting together a new shed, organizing tools.” There are more illustrations of gardening tools. Slide 3: a graphic with a large centered poloroid picture of a group photo of previous garden volunteers posing around a garden bed. The text reads “Come plant with us!” And has stickers of the logos of the listed partners. Additional text thanks the partners and encourages the reader to “Find more #DCLatinxPride events.”]
