Before we dive into editing on a desktop, we need to discuss editing on mobile. Probably 70% of my content gets edited end-to-end, inside the Instagram Edits app. And if I edit it on my computer, I’ll still run it through edits as a final pass to add captions in-app because I’m convinced it helps with IG search (even though they say it doesn’t lol). We’re going to dive into all my tips and tricks within the Edits app, but many will be applicable to other editors like CapCut & InShot. I still prefer to edit my home videos in InShot. But if I’m creating content (videos that get shared on Instagram), Edits is my #1 choice. I drug my feet over it for a while because I initially thought the idea of Instagram having a video editing app was a gimmick. Now, I am such a big fan. The features they continue to roll out keep getting better & better- apparently a desktop version is in the works right now which really peaks my interest as well.
