He was born in 1882, seven years before the infamous German chancellor. His family had settled in the area in 1799, before Ohio even became a state. His father was named George Washington, after the first president of the United States. His unusual first name wasn't considered particularly strange at the time. It was an established name for both men and women, derived from a word meaning "happy" or "cheerful." The word didn't become widely associated with its modern meaning until much later in the 20th century. After graduating from dental school in 1905, he opened a practice in Circleville, where he worked for roughly 40 years. During his lifetime, a surname associated with a respected local family became one of the most infamous in world history. His family had no known connection to the German dictator. They had been prominent landowners and farmers for generations, donating land for schools, parks, and a cemetery. Several local roads still bear their surname. He passed away in 1948, just three years after WW2 ended.
