This past Sunday, I held my first ever yoga community event. ✨
And man, was I terrified.
At first, I didn’t understand why community was so important to me. Then I realized, it was an accumulation of all of the times I had felt left out, or alone.
When I was younger, I remember being left out from playing basketball with my siblings, not intentionally, but because I was a girl.
When I was in elementary school, I remember watching my brother become left out of games and activities because he was quiet, shy, and well - ‘different.’ (As a kid, we didn’t understand what it meant to be on the spectrum, or how to treat others who were).
As I got older, I realized that my WHY has always been, to make others feel included, seen, and heard.
In a world that’s moving so fast, it can feel so easy to be left behind. It can feel lonely.
As someone in their late 20’s now, I can easily say I’ve found myself feeling lonely at times. When we’re constantly sprinting to keep up with life, work, relationships, families, and our mental health - it can feel also impossible to have a sense of community.
But sometimes community is as simple as coming together for yoga. Heck - it used to be gathering with friends for tag. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for being apart of my community. ❤️
P.S. I received so much positive feedback and questions on future events. To answer, I will be hosting another community event soon so keep your eyes out! ☺️
Let me know what type of event you would want to be apart of!
