my home is freedom. my alter. my temple. my solace. my peace. so when the weight of white supremacy/privilege tries its best to tell me that my BLACKITY BLACK body/voice does not belong to me; does not belong in their neighborhood; does not belong in their zoom/video chats; does not belong wherever they are, my home confirms i’m exactly where i’m supposed to be.
i’m not uncomfortable, you are (read it again). though the tears run hot and the rage is (now) at fever pitch, i pay homage to the elders, ancestors and revolutionary souls all day and every day. i find/chase joy knowing that time and time again they’ve tried to remove US but we’re still here.
that’s fucking magic.
being BLACK is the hardest and most JOYFUL thing I will ever do in this life and prayerfully for every life after this one. forever and always, amen.
