Bridge on the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi. 🚂

More than 80 years ago, during World War II, the Japanese military built the Thailand Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway.

The railway was constructed to transport Japanese troops, weapons, and supplies between Thailand and Burma (now Myanmar)

Around 60,000 Allied prisoners of war and hundreds of thousands of Asian laborers were forced or recruited to work under extremely harsh conditions. Tens of thousands lost their lives to disease, starvation, exhaustion, and mistreatment.🛤️
