this story seems random but it’ll make sense lol…

3 months ago I took a solo trip to Aruba.

I felt a little stale, my life runs in seasons, sometimes im super inspired and sometimes I lose that, solo travel has always helped me get it back.

I wanted to try something I’d never done so I tried kitesurfing (got absolutely slammed) but had a great instructor @nicoverploeg.

Turns out Nico is a DJ, something I’d always wanted to try. (Music is one of my greatest joys)

He invited me to his set and I spent 2 hours behind the booth watching him.

I remember him dropping a tech house remix of Smooth Criminal and I just LOST it, it sounded INSANE.

It was a big moment for me, the idea that you can pick a song and make a room full of people feel something they’ll remember forever.

I decided I wanted just ONE moment like that before I die.

Back in Dubai I bought some decks, James Hype’s old course and fell in love with DJing. Just for fun, love of the game.

2 months later I got offered a yacht gig and turned it down. I was terrified of fucking it up.

I hated that I’d let fear of embarrassment win and promised myself I’d say yes next time.

3 days ago @callumhughes asked me to DJ his yacht party. 4 hour set. 48 hours notice.

I was scared.

But I said yes.

Spent 48 hours downloading music, practising transitions and planning an entire set in order.

I was sh*tting myself

Then I got behind the decks.

The nerves disappeared.

I found my flow, ditched the planned set and just started picking songs based on the room.

Technically I made loads of mistakes. DJs would be disgusted 😂

But f*ck me I had the time of my life.

4 hours of complete presence.

And I got my moment.

Even if I never DJ again, that experience was worth everything.

For someone who loves creating things, expressing myself in a completely new way felt beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who watched, sent messages and especially Callum for the opportunity.

First club gig December 11th. No idea where this goes. For now it’s just a hobby, love of the game.

A reminder to go after things you want, not always for the result, but for the feeling.

I feel f*cking fantastic.
