The Belleville Three member has died 🕊️ A spokesperson for Greensmith Artists, the agency that represents the legendary Detroit producer, confirmed to RA that he was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Mexico City this morning, and later pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. Born in Detroit in 1962, Atkins grew up in the nearby town of Belleville, where he met future collaborators Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. They'd become known as the Belleville Three: a trio whose pioneering work in the early '80s helped establish the Motor City as one of electronic music's most important creative centres. Atkins's influence extended well beyond his hometown. As Detroit techno found audiences across Europe, particularly in the UK and Germany, his productions helped inform a new generation of producers and DJs. His music became closely associated with the futuristic, machine-driven aesthetic that would shape the genre's development throughout the late '80s and '90s. 🎃 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐍, 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒 & 𝐆𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐒! 🕸️🖤 My day is looking beautifully eerie. The kids have already acquired a terrifying mountain of sweets and are currently out haunting the football pitch. This leaves me with armchair veg-time with my current, "bloody" fabulous reads... 🩸 The Last Handmaid by Claire Whitfield for my @InstaBookTours Read-Along (it is honestly incredible!) 🧙🏻‍♀️ The House of Cursed Daughters by one of my absolute favorites, C.J. Cooke, for a spooky Buddy Read. The littlest has just discovered Mario Kart on the Switch, so I'm planning to hijack the controller and demand we only race on the spookiest tracks 🏎️💨👻 Then it’s pizza for dinner 🍕 and a Halloween movie marathon. If the eldest joins us, we're gunning for The Lost Boys or continuing our Stranger Things rewatch. If he ditches us for his mates, the hubby and I are going full classic with Halloween 🔪🍿 And I cannot believe that the Strictly Halloween special has fallen exactly on Halloween! You know where to find me when that theme music hits 💃🔮... and for that reason the spooky stacks are continuing for a little while longer, along with the fact that it is officially my absolute FAVOURITE time of the year! • 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 – 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒂 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒅𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒕 • 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑶𝒏𝒆𝒔 – 𝑻.
