⁣⁣I’ve been mostly silent on the issues facing my people. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
⠀⠀
I find I never really know what to add to the conversation. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
So I asked myself: “what about my experience can provide further context to the pain my ancestors, and brothers and sisters have and continued to endure for generations?” ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
And then it hit me. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Their pain is my pain. Their story is my story, as well as yours. We are all one in the same. ⠀
⠀
So in lieu of a tribute, this is our humble plea: May Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Diahlo Grant, Rayshard Brooks, Daniel Prude, Sandra Bland, Atatiana Jefferson, Aura Rosser, Stephon Clark, Michelle Cusseaux, Janisha Fonville, Akai Gurley, Gabriella Nevarez, Tanisha Anderson, Elijah McClain, Philando Castile, Michael Brown, Terence Crutcher, Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, Oscar Grant, Freddie Gray, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Bettie Jones, Laquan McDonald, Tamir Rice, Dominique White, Trayvon Martin and many more, rest in perfect peace. ⠀
⠀
May their legacies serve to enact change.⠀
⠀
& may we find a solution to systemic racism not on our timing but on the Most High’s. Peace and Blessings. ⠀
