The first question I get when people see my paintings is "Are those real dollars?"

My latest body of work, The Currency Collection is a portrait series chronicling wealth and income disparities according to race and gender.

In the summer of 2018, I watched @netflix  Explained Series on the Racial Wealth Gap. I was introduced to @mehrsabaradaran and bought her book #thecolorofmoney having no idea it would inspire a new body of work.

I also revisited @ava 13th and found new insights that did not land the first time I watched. In 2019, I began painting my Lineage Series. Each mixed-media portrait tells its own story of the past and present using color, collage, currency, text and texture.
