Superman vs Batman

Plucky little Poppi learning from her new sidekick, Wamata (who is closest to the camera).

To those trying to reconcile the spoiled Wamata we once knew with the calm, competent nanny you see here — we’re as surprised as you are! Wamata has really changed her tune and is blossoming into a real mini matriarch-in-the-making. This often happens, as the coddled mature and become the coddlers, but it’s always a delight to see.

In fact, despite being one of the youngest Nursery girls, she has become new rescue Poppi’s preferred nanny. This has left the senior nannies feeling rather dethroned — by a junior, no less!

Poppi is the newest addition to our foster programme. She was only rescued in September, after her mother — a famed Amboseli matriarch — succumbed to old age.

Her journey with us is just beginning — one that will lead her all the way back got the wild. Support Poppi by adopting her, as a gift for yourself or someone special: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/poppi

🇵🇱 In Poland, October 31 gives way to a major national tradition: All Saints’ Day on November 1. This public holiday brings families to cemeteries to clean graves, place chrysanthemums and light memorial candles. After dark, thousands of flames illuminate the burial grounds.

On November 2, Poles observe All Souls’ Day, called „Zaduszki”, commemorating the departed through prayer and remembrance 🕯️. These customs are rooted in centuries of Christian observance, while older.

Polish remembrance extends beyond family graves. People also tend neglected tombs and honour fallen soldiers, national heroes and victims of war with flowers and candles 🌹. The illuminated cemeteries reflect Poland’s enduring traditions of respect for the dead, family continuity and preservation of historical memory.
