Zoho co-founder and billionaire Sridhar Vembu took part in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) march in Sankarankovil, in Tamil Nadu’s Tenkasi district, on November 1. He joined local BJP leaders and RSS members in the march, which was organised to mark 100 years of the RSS. The march was part of a series of RSS processions held across Tamil Nadu. Similar marches took place in more than 100 locations as part of the organisation’s centenary celebrations. The events were held on October 25 and November 1 after the Madras High Court cleared the way for them, subject to conditions set by the authorities. Vembu also spoke about self-reliance, nationalism and the role of the RSS in nation-building, according to local BJP leader Ananthan Ayyasamy. His participation has also drawn attention because of his earlier comments about becoming a Marxist and atheist at the age of 14 under the influence of a teacher.
