Every official story has a Shadow Figure: a theorist, historian, or subject-matter expert with a theory on a mystery or conspiracy.

Chad Robichaux assembles a team of special operations veterans and sends them into the field to put that theory to the test. Then he brings the results back to the shadow figure and moves on to the next mystery.

Does the official story hold up? The team goes to find out.
Shadow Figures premieres Thursday, November 5.

The phrase “only a woman could love a monster” reflects a recurring theme in movies, literature, and popular culture, where a woman sees something lovable in someone the rest of the world fears or rejects. Stories like these often explore the idea that love can look beyond physical appearance, reputation, or a person’s troubled past. Characters portrayed as monsters are frequently given human emotions, insecurities, and a desire to be accepted, making their relationships more complicated than they initially appear. These stories also challenge the idea that someone has to be perfect to deserve affection. At their core, they explore the difference between how the world sees someone and who they might actually be beneath the surface.
