When I think “jumping out of an airplane,” a number of cliche thoughts blow past.
“Crazy”
“82nd Airborne, huah!
“Thrill seeker!”
“Nooo waaaay, not me.”
Never did I think,
“My son”
Yet, here he is. A 25x jumper, an “A” Licensed Skydiver. Huah!!
Just so’s ya knows:
The first license that a jumper can attain is the A License. The jumpers must be able to remain stable in free fall, pack their own parachute, complete a written and oral exam, and a whole list of other requirements and skills completed in free fall as identified by the United States Parachute Association. After a new skydiver successfully completes their training and demonstrates the necessary skills, they are awarded an A license. This serves as proof that they are ready to skydive without supervision and with their peers!
Wow!
Not just that, skydiving, like other sports, can facilitate the building of character and life skills.
Nothing like free falling towards the Earth to teach you how to quickly accept and overcome failure… mid-fast-free-fall!
James, having lived an exceedingly interesting and exciting life vicariously through you for many years, this one takes the prize!
Congratulations! We survived!
I’m so very proud of you and this accomplishment. Please share my regard with Leon and the crew at
