Baumhaus

My closet is a tree house made of rickety wooden doors, I don't lock them or keep them closed. The doors are always left slightly ajar for those who want to see what's inside. Sure, getting in is a little tricky but the ones who make it are assured to feel welcomed and loved. (Maybe I'll make the way to get in a little easier when my parents want to see it.) My closet is really messy, but in a pretty way - lit up with scented candles and fairy lights. It is warm and cosy. There are books scattered on the floor, some house plants organised on the shelves, lots of food for me and my friends, and checklists of my unfulfilled dreams pasted on the walls. Behind the posters however, are words of guilt and shame carved with a blade. The posters seem to do a good job of hiding them from the lovely people who visit me here. Somewhere in the background my record player hums the tunes from my "soft UwU" playlist, to soothe my aching heart and racing mind. On some days, my closet provides me with happiness - it becomes my safe haven, but on others, I wish to crawl out of it and breathe the fresh air outside, I wish to feel free, to shout out loud that it's okay, that it's going to be okay. It is my prison, my home, my heaven and my hell but to those who see it from the outside it's just like another small comfy tree house!
