Hi! I’m Simone. I’m a school psychologist with a passion for social-emotional learning. I am the founder of SELAH (Social Emotional Learning and Healing).
Our mission is to support the social and emotional wellbeing of children impacted by parental substance misuse from black families and communities in efforts to break the intergenerational cycle of addiction and trauma.
While I don’t consider myself an “expert” in children of addiction, I am an adult COA who lost my father to a drug overdose in 2017. I created this platform to bring awareness for a group that is often underserved and overlooked.
So whether you are an educator, mental health professional, parent, or an adult child of a parent with an addiction, we welcome you on this journey in furthering our mission.
I hope you are encouraged to listen, share relevant tools, and help cultivate safe spaces where children of addiction can better understand and manage their emotions, learn that they are not alone, and unapologetically show up using their gifts and talents in this world.
