my first reel! and first cleaning tip for when you’re dealing with lower mental health and energy levels. this is not a one-size-fits-all as mental and physical health varies greatly, but i thought this could be a good place to start :)
#VideoDescription - a time lapse video of alex (they/them) a white agender person cleaning up their table and small kitchen area. there are text blurbs as the video progresses that read “if you’re like me, i struggle with being able to focus on anything if there’s clutter all around and get overwhelmed at the thought of cleaning it all up. my mental health has been low which makes my energy limited. an old therapist told me that when i’m overwhelmed by a large task, set a timer for 5 to 10 minutes just to get yourself moving. it can also be hard to know where to begin, so i chose to start with the thing that was bothering me most - cluttered surfaces. once those were cleared, i moved on to the next thing - the sink full of dishes. i also keep a bottle of all purpose spray next to my sink with a dedicated rag for wiping counters so i can quickly do that whenever i clear things. 10 minutes later i got more done that i thought i could and now i have some space to breathe. i hope to regularly share my practices and the ways i’ve learned to care for my space while allowing myself to do only what is within my capacity - without worry of it needing to be perfect. i hope this helps you too :)
