Growing up in a Chicago suburb, @reemashihadeh did what many third-culture children do as they traverse from one ethnic nucleus to another: conform. At school, she’d ask her sister to slick her curly hair back into a sleek, straight bun in an attempt to hide her texture. She understood, even as a kid, that she looked different than her peers. But back in Palestine, where she’d spend the summers with her extended family picking figs from their trees and laughing, playing cards into the late hours of the night, she felt like herself. It was in the journey between her Palestinian and American identities that she found comfort in her own unique characteristics and came to understand beauty not as a physical concept, but rather a state of being, “an energy.” Last month, Shihadeh launched @zaiiebeauty, a brand centered on Palestinian heritage which sources ingredients from the olive grove that’s been in her family for generations. At the link in bio, she sits down to talk about inspiration, why she decided to become an olive oil sommelier, and more. Written by @danya.issawi Photography by @julia_noni @clemencepolesfarhang

I came to the cottage this weekend with one goal Mod my UTD-8000 in time for #autumnwatchweek My watch-modding résumé is pretty short: one bezel swap on a Seiko SKX013 and a DIY dive watch build. If that counts 🙄 But swapping the new RZE-8080 module into my UTD-8000-CKG? Literally ten minutes. So simple a monkey could do it. And, apparently, one did 🐒 The upgrade brings dual time, multiple alarms, a countdown timer and a new FSTN display. I was already a big fan of this watch. Now it feels supercharged. There’s something satisfying about giving a watch you already love a few more reasons to stay on your wrist. Credit to @rzewatches for bringing existing owners along for the ride. And thanks to @hendersonshorology for hosting 😉 #wristcheck #wristshot #watchmod
